Beersheba Center Railway Station is an Israel Railways terminal in Beersheba on the main intercity line from Nahariya to Beersheba. The station is located on Yitzhak Ben Zvi St. near the city's central bus station and HaNegev Mall. It is one of two railway stations serving Be'er Sheva, the other being Beersheba North, located near the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
Services
The station is open 24 hours a day (except on the Sabbath) and during peak times serves two trains per hour in each direction to and from Tel Aviv, making certain stops along the route. At off-peak times there is one train per hour in each direction. Some of these trains then continue along the Mediterranean coast to Haifa and terminate in Nahariya in northern Israel. During late nights and early mornings there is one train per hour to and from Nahariya, stopping in Ben Gurion International Airport, Tel Aviv, Haifa and other selected destinations (some of which differ from the destinations served by the day and evening trains to Nahariya). Additional trains serving the station are expected to be added later in 2013. The current travel time from Beersheba Center to the Tel Aviv HaHagana Railway Station is just over one hour.
In the future the station will also serve as a terminus for trains using the Ashkelon–Beersheba railway. Starting in 2015, this will enable new direct service from Beersheba Center to destinations such as Ashkelon, Ashdod, Yavne, and Rishon LeZion.
The station's design allows for additional passenger platforms to be constructed west of the existing platforms in the future.
