Beauty on a Back Street is the sixth studio album by Hall & Oates, released in 1977.
This album takes a more rock-oriented approach, similar to War Babies, but more streamlined and polished.
Both Daryl Hall and John Oates claim to hate this album, and many of Hall and Oates' most comprehensive compilations, such as The Essential Daryl Hall & John Oates (originally released as Ultimate Daryl Hall + John Oates) and the 2009 box set, Do What You Want, Be What You Are: The Music of Hall and Oates, do not include any songs from this album (although the "3.0" edition of The Essential does contain the album's sole charting single, "Why Do Lovers Break Each Other's Hearts?" as a bonus track).
