Bay du Nord is an abandoned community in Fortune Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. The Post Office was established in 1891 and the first Postmaster was Thomas Farrell. In 1968 it was De-populated. It had a population of 188 in 1940 and 149 in 1956.
The abandoned outport community of Bay du Nord was settled by fishermen in the 1830s. The community was dependent on the fishery and, in the early part of this century, the saw milling industry. http://www.chrs.ca/Rivers/BayduNord/BayduNord-F_e.php
