Bavaria (also Hohneck or Honek)[1] is an unincorporated community in southern Ohio Township, Saline County, Kansas, United States. It lies along K-140 and a Union Pacific Railroad line southwest of the city of Salina, the county seat of Saline County. Spring Creek flows through the community.[2] Its elevation is 1,273 feet (388 m), and it is located at 38°47′50″N 97°45′20″W / 38.79722°N 97.75556°W (38.7972268, -97.7555952).[1] As a part of Saline County, Bavaria is a part of the Salina micropolitan area.[3]

History

Bavaria was laid out in 1877. Settlers had been present there since 1865.[4] It's named after the state of Bavaria, in Germany.[5]

The post office in Bavaria was discontinued in 1986.[6]
