Battle of Aroghee
The Battle of Aroghee was a battle fought on 10 April 1868 in the Aroghee Plain in Abyssinia during the British expedition of 1868. During the battle, British forces led by Sir Robert Napier 5,000 British soldiers faced off against 7,000 outgunned Abyssian troops. The Abyssinians were defeated at Aroghee, and shortly thereafter, the British shelled and captured Magdala, in the Battle of Magdala which led the Abyssinian emperor Theodore to shoot himself.[1]
