Barus is a kecamatan (district) in Central Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia.
History
Barus was an 'important site' on the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia during the Srivijaya period. Contemporary sites included Lamuri and Pannai.[1]
