Baru Bian (born 9 September 1958) is a Malaysian politician from the Parti Keadilan Rakyat in the Pakatan Rakyat opposition coalition. He gained prominence as a campaigner for native customary rights in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia.
He was elected to the Sarawak State Assembly in April 2011 by winning the Ba’kelalan seat, having defeated the candidate for the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition, Willie Liau, who is also his nephew, by a narrow 473-vote majority.[1]
He is a son of a pastor and attended Kolej Tun Datu Patinnggi Haji Bujang at Tanjong Lobang, Miri, Sarawak. His highest political office before appointed as the Sarawak PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) liaison chief was a supreme council member of Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS).[2]
