Bardoli

[1]Template:Infobox settlement. It also has a various types of malls Bardoli is a city and a municipality in Surat Metropolitan Region in the state of Gujarat, India. Bardoli is the east most end of the Metropolis of Surat. Bardoli is one of the primary Satellite Towns of Surat Metropolitan Region.

Geography

Bardoli is located at 21°07′N 73°07′E / 21.12°N 73.12°E.[2] It has an average elevation of 22 metres (72 feet).

Bardoli is also the center for most of the talukas or counties in South Gujarat. Due to its central location for many Talukas it is a major economic centre of Surat Metropolis. Distances from some major counties:

Hazira-Bardoli Expressway

Bardoli is located 35 km from Surat and the connection is smooth but due to heavy traffic congestion it takes more than an hour to reach Bardoli from Surat. The new Hazira-Bardoli Expressway is under construction which will reduce the commuting time by current 1 hour 15 minutes to just 30 minutes after the completion.

Bardoli Satyagrah

The Bardoli Satyagraha movement was started in January 1926 after the land revenue in Bardoli taluka was increased by 30 per cent. In February 1926, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was called to lead the movement. All the details of the Satyagrah with photos are now conserved in the "Sardar Patel Museum". This place is middle of Bardoli town on station road.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[3] Bardoli had a population of 51,963. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Bardoli has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 54% of the males and 46% of females literate. 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Economy

Bardoli, long ago nothing but a very small village, is popular due to the establishment of Bardoli Sugar Factory. It is the largest sugar factory in Asia. It also has largest number of used car dealers in Gujarat. This is because the Bardoli region is home to a large number of Non-Resident Indians, who visit Bardoli once a year in December, buy a car and later on sell it when they leave. It is one of the most favorable place for food lovers. People have options like Jalaram Khichdi, Jalaram Khaman, Gangor, Chatkazz, Avadh, Red Chillies, and U.S. Pizza. It also houses various quality jewelry showrooms like Akshar Jewellers, Khodiyar Jewellers, Bhavani Jewellers, The Gold Mark, Sadguru Jewelers, and Umrakhwala Diamond Jeweler.
