Barauli (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: बरौलि विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Gopalganj district in the Indian state of Bihar.
Overview
As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 100 Barauli (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Manjha community development block; Mohadipur Pakaria, Dewapur, Sonbarsa, Batardeh, Sarfara, Nawada Chand, Kahla, Moghal Biraicha, Kalyanpur, Sarean Narendra, Belsand, Madhopur, Mahammadpur Nilami, Bagheji, Bishunpura, Larauli gram panchayats and Barauli (NA) of Barauli CD Block.[1]
Barauli (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 17 Gopalganj (Lok Sabha constituency) (SC).[1]
Election results
1977-2010
In the 2010, October 2005, February 2005 and 2000 state assembly elections, Ram Pravesh Rai of BJP won the Barauli assembly seat, defeating his nearest rivals Md. Nematullah of RJD, in all four elections. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Md. Nematullah of JD defeated Ram Pravesh Rai of BJP in 1995. Dhruv Nath Chaudhary, Independent, defeated Ram Pravesh Rai of Janata Party (JP) in 1990. Adnan Khan of Congress defeated Ram Pravesh Rai of BJP in 1985. Abdul Ghafoor of Congress (U) defeated Adnan Khan of Congress in 1980. Abdul Ghafoor of Congress defeated Mohammad Rasool of JP.[2][3]
