Barahiya is a city and a municipality in Lakhisarai district in the state of Bihar, India. It has a population of 64,987. It is on the bank of the Ganges and grows Rabi crops.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[1] Barahiya had a population of 39,745. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Barahiya has an average literacy rate of 53%, below than the national average of 59.5%; with 61% of the males and 39% of females literate. 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Transport
Barhiya is connected to metropolitan areas of India, by the Delhi-Kolkata Main Line via Mugalsarai-Patna route which runs along the historic Grand Trunk road.[2]
