Bapu Gokhale
Bapu Gokhale was a general working for the Marathas in the Third Anglo-Maratha War.[1] He was entrusted by Peshwa Baji Rao II with the preparations of the Third Anglo-Maratha War against the British in 1818.[1] He died on February 19, 1818 during the battle of Ashti while defending the Peshwa from the British. He fought bravely and died with a sword in his hand just as he had wished he would have preferred to.[2]
