Bang Minah (Hangul: 방민아; born May 13, 1993), better known as simply Minah, is a South Korean idol singer and actress. She has been a member of girl group Girl's Day since 2010 and debuted as a solo singer in 2015. She has acted in various films and television series, including Vampire Idol (2011) and Holly (2013).

Biography

Early life

Bang Minah was born on May 13, 1993, in Seoul, South Korea. She attended Jinsun Girls' High School and is currently majoring in Broadcasting at Dongduk Women's University.

Girl's Day

On July 9, 2010, Minah made her debut as a member of girl group Girl's Day on Music Bank with their first single "Tilt My Head" (Hangul: 갸우뚱; RR: Gyauttung).[1] Girl's Day has released 2 full-length albums, one compilation album and 5 EPs.

Solo career

In 2010, Minah was cast in Performer, which revolves around hip hop dance and aims to be Korea's first 3D dance movie, and the country's version of Step Up. Minah plays a female breakdancer who is also a bit of a bad student.[2]

But Minah would eventually make her acting debut in Roller Coaster on cable channel tvN, in the segment "Frustrated, but Let's Stick Together."[3]

In 2013, Minah playes the leading role in the film Holly. She then hosted The Music Trend (formerly known as Inkigayo) from August 2013 to January 2014.[4]

Solo debut

On March 3, 2015 DreamT announced that Minah would be making her solo debut in mid-March. [5] On the 9th it was announced that Minah would have her solo debut on the 16th of March with a dance track. [6] DreamT Entertainment then announced on the 11th of March that the mini-album is called I Am A Woman Too. [7] After a day, it was announced that Minah will be holding her first showcase on March 16 at 11:30PM at the Art Center in Myeongdong, Seoul. As a high school student, Minah became an online sensation after singing Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" on the streets of Myeongdong, and later had her solo debut there of the EP I Am a Woman Too on March 16, 2015. The 4th of April DreamT Entertainment revealed that Minah's promotions for I Am A Woman Too would end the 12th of April. [9]

Minah flew to Japan to have fan meetings from the 13th until the 16th of April and met with 2,000 fans, she visited several cities, including Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo and Shibuya. [10]

Personal life

Minah dated footballer Son Heung-min, which was first denied by her agency DreamT Entertainment on July 28, 2014, then later confirmed. But reports came out on October 16, 2014 that the couple had broken up due to the difficulties of a long-distance relationship.[11] On 15 October 2014, it has been confirmed that the two broke up. It was reported that the couple have broken up due to their busy schedules and difficulties of maintaining long-distance relationship.[12]
