Accessing Bandar Bukit Tinggi from the KESAS Highway

Bandar Bukit Tinggi (also known as Bukit Tinggi; commonly abbreviated as BBT) is an integrated and modern township in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia. The RM5 billion (over US$1.6 billion) self-sufficient township has a wide range of facilities and amenities.[1]

With a total freehold land area of 1,346 acres (5.45 km2), Bandar Bukit Tinggi houses a mixed development of over 18,400 units of quality designed properties including various types of double-storey and semi-detached houses, bungalows, medium-cost apartments and low-cost flats.[2]

Bandar Bukit Tinggi consists of 3 major development areas, namely Bandar Bukit Tinggi 1 (BBT 1), Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2 (BBT 2) and Bandar Bukit Tinggi 3 (also known as Bandar Parklands).[3] Adjacent to Bandar Bukit Tinggi Klang are some other new and modern townships such as Bandar Botanic, Glenmarie Cove, Bandar Puteri Klang and Kota Bayuemas.

Retail and food

Bandar Bukit Tinggi in Klang has hundreds of food and dining outlets in the township such as Mamak stalls, kopi tiams, bak kut teh, steamboat, seafood, Kajang satay, Western, Asian, nasi kandar, Chinese, fast food and vegetarian restaurants.[4]

This integrated township has two large hypermarkets, Tesco and Giant Hypermarket and a 4-star modern business hotel with 250 rooms, the Première Hotel.[5] There are various amenities in Bandar Bukit Tinggi that serve more than 80,000 residents, including banks, offices, petrol stations, recreational parks, clinics and schools. This makes Bandar Bukit Tinggi the most successful and fastest growing township in the royal town of Klang.[6]

Developed by property developer and construction player WCT Holdings Berhad since 1997, Bandar Bukit Tinggi is also the home to the AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre, the largest AEON (Jusco) store in Southeast Asia. The shopping mall has a gross lettable area of approximately one million square feet and over 5,000 car park bays.[7]

An integrated development comprising 20-block of retail offices and 2-block of 9-storey corporate office suites named The Landmark with a gross development value of RM180 million is currently in development in Bandar Bukit Tinggi 2.[8][9] Next to The Landmark is The Lead Residences development, comprising 2 high-rise blocks of service apartments, 8-storey boutique hotel and retail shops. Both The Landmark and The Lead Residences will be directly linked to the AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre via skybridges.

Manipal Hospitals Klang, a US$100 million private medical centre with 220 beds will be operational by first-half of 2015 in this township, providing a modern tertiary levels of healthcare service with super specialities including cardiothoracic, paediatric and neuro surgeries with a team of over 300 nursing staff and 60 resident and visiting specialists.[10]

Administration

Bandar Bukit Tinggi is under the jurisdiction of the Klang Municipal Council (MPK). Bandar Bukit Tinggi is represented in the Parliament by the Member of Parliament for Klang, Mr. Charles Santiago.[11] At the state government level, the township is represented by the Port Klang state assemblyman, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who is the former Chief Minister of Selangor.[12]

The residents of the township are represented by the Residents' Association of Bandar Bukit Tinggi (PPBBT). The Bandar Bukit Tinggi police station provides a good security presence in the township.

Location

The integrated township development of Bandar Bukit Tinggi in Klang is located strategically just 50 km west of Kuala Lumpur and 30 km from Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya. It is accessible via major highways of which the nearest is the KESAS highway.

The township is serviced by public bus service providers with direct route to the Klang town centre and KLIA2 airport terminal. The planned 3rd light-rail transit line (LRT3) is expected to have 2 stations located in Bandar Bukit Tinggi.[13]
