Banda is a town in Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra, India near the Goa-Maharashtra border. Banda is the last town of Mahrashtra state on Mumbai-Goa national highway (NH-17). Terekhol is main river on the bank of which Banda city is established.

Places of attraction

God Shree Bandeshwar and Goddess Shree Mauli are the Main Temples in the Village. The name of the village Banda is only because of the God Bandeshwar, a Jagrit Swayambhu Shivalinga.In ancient age the Banda was known as Adilabad due to reign of Adilshahi. Adil was defeated by Portuguese . Adilabad convert in sweet name as Banda On Lord Bandeshwar in the time of Shivaji Maharaj . This 300+ years old Temple of Lord Bandeshwar is being renovated. All the devotees are contributing for the same. It is a very real faith that Lord Bandeshwar can worshipped by Holy Priest only that is Brahmin of the Temple and to keep all the purity of the Temple all the citizens of Banda follow this tradition very heartily. There were 12 Shivalingas in the temple.Along with Goddess Shri Bhumika.In December month piligramis gumption on occasion of Goddess Bhumika birthday.

Banda is famous for its festival celebrations be it Holi, Ganesh chaturthi, Diwali (majorly for Diwali show time where in participants from in and around Banda take part ,Narali pournima is also major festival in Banda. Show time is also famous with participants in Goa, Mumbai . Highlight for this show is statue competition as you would get to see unimaginable live statues performed by participants as they need to stay without moving for one minute)

Economy

Again Banda city area comes under picture when it comes to production and processing of kajju (cashew nuts), kokam (gamboge) and supari (betel nut).Thease are major income sources of peoples in Banda. Because of this Banda is considered as major market area in Sindhudurga district and also have economical importance.

Transportation

The Terekhol river bridge was also constructed in 1961 by Govt of Maharashtra for transportation between Goa and Maharashtra state. Terekhol bridge was considered as only connecting bridge or link between Goa and Maharashtra up to 1999. Mumbai-Goa national highway (NH-17) runs through Banda.
