Banbridge High School

Coordinates: 54°20′42″N 6°16′37″W / 54.345°N 6.277°W Banbridge High School is a secondary school located in Banbridge, County Down, Northern Ireland. It is within the Southern Education and Library Board area.

The school was opened in 1957 with an initial enrolment of 438 pupils with 12 staff. Today the school has a total enrolment of 690 pupils and 48 staff (at July 2006). A new building was officially opened by the Duchess of Kent in March 1997. The current principal is Andrew Bell. Mr Bell joined as Principal in 2009.

In 2013 the Education and Training Inspectorate for Northern Ireland concluded that the school was satisfactory. GCSE results show that the school has achieved better grades in 2013 which would raise the standard even further. The school has been showing progressive improvements in results. The ETI inspection reflected that pupils are both courteous and show good behaviour. The school has an excellent LSC and provides for the needs of all pupils inclusively.

In 2002 the school gained a Schools Curriculum Award. It plays a very active part in Banbridge Area Learning Community. This involves Banbridge Academy, Dromore High School, St Patrick’s College, Rathfriland High School, New-Bridge Integrated College, Southern Regional College as well as Banbridge High School itself.
