Ballinahown (Irish: Baile na hAbhann), also spelt Ballynahown, is a village in County Westmeath on the N62 regional road in Ireland. It is 10 km (6.2 mi) south of Athlone and 5 km (3.1 mi) east of the River Shannon.
From Lewis's Topographical Dictionary of Ireland, 1837:
Ballinahown is home to the work of a large selection of Midlands Arts and Crafts workers, not least the famous Celtic Roots studio where you may see a demonstration of the art of Oak Sculpture and learn of the cultural significance of the materials.
Mark Rohan from Ballinahown, a former Under 21 footballer with Westmeath until a car accident, won a gold medal in the 2012 Summer Paralympics on 5 September 2012 in the individual H1 time trial.[1]
