Balinale
Balinale is International Film Festival held in Bali.[1] Balinale gives Indonesian filmmakers an opportunity to present their work to a global audience.[2] The festival also provides an opportunity to invite foreign filmmakers to screen their films while experiencing Indonesia’s accommodating culture and diverse locations for possible film locations.[2] Through that annual festival, several places in Indonesia become the shooting location for Hollywood movie like Eat Pray Love by Ryan Murphy, Born To Be Wild by David Lickley, Savages by Oliver Stone and Alex Cross by Rob Cohen.[3]
History
Balinale was established in 2007 by Bali Taksu Indonesia Foundation a non-profit and non-government organization.[1] That foundation has a vision to invite filmmakers from aboard to show their films and introducing the beauty of nature and culture in Indonesia.[1] The foundation also works towards developing understanding and respect for freedom of expression, human rights and intellectual property rights and fosters cross-cultural respect and tolerance through filmmaking workshops, seminars and film festivals.[2] Balinale is recognized internationally for the quality and diversity of its programming.[1] Balinale is affiliated with Motion Picture Association, Asia Pacific Screen Awards (Brisbane, Australia), ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (Kuching, Malaysia), Asian Film Commissions Network and in 2014 is supporting American Film Showcase and Sundance Institute's Film Forward.[1]
