Baek Ye-rin (Hangul: 백예린), born June 26, 1997, is a South Korean singer. She is a member of the Korean girl duo 15&, managed by JYP Entertainment.
Biography
Ye-rin was born on June 26, 1997 at Jung-gu, Daejeon. She currently goes to the Hanlim School of Performing Arts alongside group member Park Ji-min and is in her senior year.
Pre-career
In a 2007 episode of the SBS variety show Amazing Contest Star King, Ye-rin performed "Listen" by Beyoncé[1] and became known as a "contemporary R&B genius".[2]
JYP audition and training (pre-debut)
After her Star King appearance, Ye-rin decided to audition for JYP Entertainment. She performed "Listen" in the audition day,[3] and later won the second place honors, behind only 2PM's Jang Woo-young.[4] She spent five years (2007-2012) training in South Korea and the United States, and was called a "genius girl" for her vocal talent, skills in using the piano and fluency in the English language.[2]
Debut in 15&
On September 25, 2012, JYP announced the debut of 15& through a video teaser.
The 40-second clip showed Ye-rin's partner, K-pop Star winner Park Ji-min, seated at a desk as she hums and scribbles on some music sheets. She is joined at the desk by another girl (Ye-rin), who proceeds to hold Ji-min’s hands.[5]
Two days later, JYP released the new jacket CD cover of 15& and revealed Ye-rin to be the second member of the duo.[6] Netizens were delighted upon the announcement.[7]
The duo later debuted with their first single, "I Dream", on October 7, 2012 via SBS' Inkigayo.
Solo Activities
In 2015 Ye-Rin was featured on tracks by rappers Olltti,Yuk Ji Dam,Taecyeon and San E. Her collaboration with San E went up to #1 on many online charts including Melon.
