The Baccalaureate School for Global Education (BSGE) is a New York City Public School located in the Astoria section of Queens, New York. BSGE was established in 2002. It serves a student body of 470 students between the 7th and 12th grades. BSGE is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer both the MYP (IB Middle Years Programme) and also the IB Diploma Programme. It was ranked number 21 in the nation as of 2012 and ranked #50th High School in the state. Applicants must pass an admission test.
Admissions
All applicants must be residents of New York City, although priority is given to those in Queens County. Every year, BSGE hosts two Open-House evenings. A test is then required. After the test, the school chooses the students that passed the test and these students will receive an interview letter. After the interview, students get the final notice about whether or not they have been accepted. Students who had 2s on their report card or a 3 on any 5th grade state test may be given a letter that requires them to attend the Bridge Program before the school year begins.
