The BR-287 is a federal highway that across the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. The highway is also known as the Highway of Integration.[3]

Starts in the Region of Porto Alegre, through the Center Eastern, Central West and ending in the Southwest region. Its length is 536.9 km.[4]

Crosses the main tobacco producing region of the country, in the cities of Santa Cruz do Sul and Venancio Aires, where they are installed numerous manufacturers and distributors of cigarette smoke, such as Universal Leaf Tobacco, Philip Morris, Souza Cruz, Associated Tobacco Company and Alliance One, among other.
