BLUEsat
The Basic Low Earth Orbit UNSW Experimental Satellite (BLUEsat) project is an engineering project being undertaken by undergraduate students at the University of New South Wales. It aims to raise awareness of space and give students the opportunity to investigate, design, build and launch a satellite. The project is supported by ACSER, the EE Faculty UNSW, Thales, and Optus.
Current Progress
A successful functional demonstration of the complete satellite was achieved in July of 2013. A test Launch Vehicle is currently being sourced.
It will be flying an experimental GPS Namuru V3.2, developed by the UNSW School of Surveying, as its first payload.
Future Goals
The BLUEsat Project is intended to become the BLUEsat Group - a association of undergraduate engineers at UNSW with an interest in space technologies. Progressing from BLUEsat's first launch, the group will focus on a number of space projects and competitions.
