BC Prievidza

BC Prievidza is a Slovak professional basketball club playing in the Slovak Extraliga. The club plays home games in the sports hall Nike Arena Prievidza. Was founded in 1947 under the name "Sokol Prievizda". In 1989 the club won their first ever title in the Czechoslovak Championship. This success repeated four years later (1993), when Prievidza won the last edition of the Czechoslovak league. In a separate Slovak top division club won his first title and third overall title in the season 1993/1994. The following season the club won only a silver medal. After relegation to the second highest league in 2004, the club changed after 40 years, the name of the Hornonitriansky basketball club (HBK) Prievidza. From 1 August 2009 club called BC Prievidza.
