Bălţeşti is a commune in Prahova County, Romania. It is composed of three villages: Bălţeşti, Izeşti and Podenii Vechi.

'The commune is located in the central part of Prahova County, framed by the meridian that passes through 26 degrees and latitude 45 degrees Teleajen Valley crossing Prahova county. It stretches over an area of 3666 hectares. Territory of the municipality is located a hilly area, sub-Carpathian what can fit into a rectangle with sides of approx. 5.7 km. Front of Ploiesti, county seat, located at a distance of 20–30 km north. City is bordered to the east village Podenii-November, just south of town and village Boldesti-Scaieni Plopu, west of village Magurele and north-west of village and commune Gornet Păcureţi north.

Relief

Specific relief is hilly regions Carpathian, but falling to the eastern extremity of the basin Magurele-Baltesti, is part of a high plain surrounded by hills and rough structures mostly pleated sheet. The hills are covered with hardwood forests, meadows and pastures, while those with smaller slope is covered with fruit trees, vineyards and cattle and grain are grown even potatoes, tomatoes and tulips. The landscape presents natural hazards to produce slides of land, due to excess moisture and soil erosion.

Climate

Climate is mild, temperate, influenced by nearby hills with temperatures between -3 degrees and -5 degrees C in winter and between 20 degrees and 24 degrees C in summer.

Brief history

The first historical document that recalls the human settlement dating from around 1581 say that the prince Turcitul Mihnea command Stanciu to make a "ocina" to Podeni from Dan and from 800 Valeni harsh. Gradually, the villages Podeni, Izesti and Baltesti appear more often in the papers and documents. Place name comes from a group of houses surrounded the NE and SW of lakes and ponds, which bore the name of "house of ponds, and from here the idea that the name comes from Baltesti configuration of the relief situation. However, the history of the settlement is much older, conducted archaeological research revealed more than 1,000 archaeological objects dating from the Paleolithic until the 12th-14th centuries.
