The Eastern Scarlet, Commom Scarlet or Scarlet Butterfly (Axiocerses tjoane) is a butterfly of the Lycaenidae family. It is found in southern and eastern Africa. It is not present on the Eastern Cape.
The wingspan is 24–32 mm for males and 25–34 mm for females. Adults are on wing year round.
The larvae feed on Acacia (including Acacia abyssinica, Acacia polyacantha subsp. campylacantha and Acacia sieberiana var. woodii), Peltophorum africanum and Brachystegia species.
