Awer Mabil (born 15 September 1995) is a Kenyan-born South Sudanese-Australian professional football (soccer) player, who plays as an Winger and forward for A-League club Adelaide United in Hyundai A-League.[1] He also holds Australian citizenship.

Early life

Mabil was born to South Sudanese parents in Kakuma, located in northwestern Kenya, he lived in a Refugee Camp with his family until 2006 when his family moved to Australia, just in time to witness the broadcast of the 2006 FIFA World Cup which made him interested in football.

Club career

Adelaide United

Mabil was signed by Adelaide United in the Australia Hyundai A-League in 2012 from Campbelltown City in the FFSA National Premier League after Mabil had displayed a series of performances showing his lightning quick feet, footspeed and dribbling skills to outwit many defenders in the FFSA National Premier League.[1] Mabil made his Adelaide United senior debut on 11 January 2013 in a 2012–2013 A-League match against Perth Glory FC. He scored his first goal in a 2 - 1 away loss to Wellington Phoenix during Round 17 of the 2013–2014 A-League season, after coming on as a substitute in the second half
