Austin Amutu (born 20 February 1993) is a Nigerian international footballer who plays as a forward for Malaysian club, Kelantan on loan from Warri Wolves, and the Nigeria U-23 team.[1][2]
Club career
He started his playing career with Karamone FC youth team later joined Mighty Jets of Jos where he started exploding his talents wining a lot of honorees and award such the best striker of the team, team highest goal scorer ever for the team in a season and also been the youngest best striker of Mighty Jets ever signed. He made his way to limelight which made interest from teams locally and internationally but Warri Wolves were lucky to convinced the powerful and ball shield attacker.[3]
In December 2012, English Premier League Club Arsenal sent a delegate to Nigeria to scout for youth exceptional players which made interest from the club. Arsenal's delegate sent to Nigeria watched two consecutive live games in 2012 where he scored brace in the Caf Continental against Black Leopards and against Abia Warriors but the deal could not went through due to his lack of 75% appearance of Nigeria international games in the last two consecutive years then. Also this made some teams eyeing his signings but Warri Wolves have been turning down interest proposal from professional team in Europe, North Africa and Asia seeking for high transfer fee.[4]
In April 2015, Amutu signed a loan deal from Warri Wolves to Malaysian club Kelantan during April transfer window. He scored in the 9th minutes of his debut game against Johor Darul Takzim.[5]
International career
He made his international debut for Nigeria in 2012. He was called up to Nigeria U-23 Dream team squad for the 2014 Olympic games qualifiers where he scored goals.[6] He was also selected for Nigeria dream team VI squad at the 2015 Nigeria Super 6 Tournament.[7]
