Aurora Borealis Express
The Aurora Borealis Express is an overnight express train operating between Helsinki, Finland, and Kolari in Lapland.[1] Sleeping births are available on the train, and a restaurant car serves evening meals and breakfast.
Route
The train operates via Tampere and Oulu, with stops at both cities. The service is bi-directional, with a corresponding train operating southwards over the same route. The total route is a little over 600 miles, and the journey lasts for 13 hours.
Operation
A typical train formation consists of nine sleeping cars, three seating lounge cars, and a restaurant car. Motor cars can be booked for transportation on the train, and car transporting carriages are added to the formation as required.[2] The northbound train (train 269) and the southbound train (train 270) both operate on varying days of the week, depending upon the time of year, as passenger demand is variable, and somewhat seasonal.
