Aurelio Porfiri (born 8 August 1968) is an Italian composer, conductor, author, and organist.

Biography

Born in Italy, Aurelio Porfiri was graduated with the final degree in choral music at the Conservatorio di San Pietro a Majella, Naples.

He also studied Renaissance polyphony and polyphonic musical forms with Domenico Bartolucci and further studies of organ and composition with Giuseppe Agostini (a leading organist and choir master in Italy). Later he also studied renaissance semiology with Francesco Luisi (editor for the third national edition of the works of Palestrina).

Previously being the substitute Organist of the Vatican City Vicariate in St. Peter’s Basilicaas well as many notable churches in Italy, he arrived in Macau in 2008, invited as being Associate Professor for a local University.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]

Current activities

At the moment he is Director of Choral Activities and Composer in Residence for Santa Rosa de Lima School English Secondary (Macau China), and Director of Musical Activities for Our Lady of Fatima Girls’ school (Macau, China). Other present activities of Aurelio Porfiri are;

- Visiting Conductor Shanghai Conservatory of Music Education Department - Director of the book series "Musica Divina" Marcianum Press. - World Choir Council: Italian representant. - Artistic Director Porfiri & Horvath Publishers (Polheim, Germany) - Artistic Director "Roma in Musica" Choral Competition and "Venezia in Musica" Choral Competition (Interkultur Foundation, Germany) - He is often invited as adjudicator for international choral competitions. In July 2006 was a jury member in Xiamen (China) for the 4th World Choir Games with more than 350 choirs from all over the world. He is now representant for Italy in the World Choir Council and adjudicator in the last World Choir Games in Cincinnati (USA).

As a composer he has composed a lot of Oratorios and Cantata as well as Masses, Musicals and Choral Compositions. He has composed music of different genres, mainly in Latin, Italian and English from unison to six parts, as well as accompaniment. Many of his composition in Italian are commissioned by the most popular liturgical journal in Italy "La vita in Cristo e nella Chiesa". His works are performed in various communities and parishes throughout the world. His music is mainly published from Edizioni San Paolo (Italy), Edizioni Carrara (Italy), Canticanova (USA), Porfiri & Horvath Publishers (former Edition Music Contact, Germany), Editio Ferrimontana (Germany), Symetrie (France)
