Aurèle Nicolet
Aurèle Nicolet (born January 22, 1926 in Neuchâtel) is a Swiss flautist. He is considered as one of the world's best flute players of the late twentieth century. He has performed in various international concerts. A number of composers wrote music especially for him, such composers include Toru Takemitsu, György Ligeti, Krzysztof Meyer or Edison Denisov. His pupils include Emmanuel Pahud, Carlos Bruneel, Michael Faust, Pedro Eustache, Thierry Fischer, Irena Grafenauer, Huáscar Barradas, Kristiyan Koev, Jadwiga Kotnowska, Robert Langevin, Marina Piccinini, Kaspar Zehnder, and Ariel Zuckermann.
Career
- 1948 To 1950: Flautist in Orchestras in Winterthur and Zurich
- 1950 To 1959: Solo flautist the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra
- 1952 To 1965: Professor at the Academy for Music in Berlin
- 1965 To 1981: Head of the Master Class at the Freiburg Conservatory
