Atwood Oceanics, Inc. is an offshore oil and gas drilling company. It participates in drilling in exploratory regions around the world. Atwood Oceanics Pacific Limited (A.O.P.L.) and related subsidiaries of Atwood Oceanics, Inc. make up what is referred to as the Atwood Group. Atwood Oceanics, Inc. common stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "ATW.

History

Organized in 1968, Atwood Oceanics began operation by 1970. In 1972, Atwood was placed on the stock market and is currently under the symbol ATW on the New York Stock Exchange. The Atwood Group has conducted drilling operations in the Red Sea, Persian Gulf, Black Sea, Australia, East and West Africa, Southeast Asia, Mediterranean Sea, China, Far East, Papua New Guinea, India, Central and South America and the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The Atwood Group's American headquarters is in Houston, Texas. It also operates from Australia, Malaysia, Malta, Indonesia, Egypt and the United Kingdom.

Rigs

The Atwood Group owns and operates 12 mobile offshore drilling units and is constructing two ultra-deepwater drillships.

Atwood Oceanics owns one ultra-deepwater dynamically positioned drillship, the Atwood Advantage, with two additional drillships under construction. The Atwood Achiever was completed and delivered to the company in September of 2014. The Atwood Admiral and Atwood Archer are expected to be delivered and mobilized in September 2015 and June 2016, respectively.

Additionally, Atwood Oceanics owns two independent leg cantilever jackup rigs, the Atwood Aurora, the Atwood Beacon; five semisubmersible rigs, the Atwood Eagle, the Atwood Falcon, the Atwood Hunter, the Atwood Osprey; three Pacific Class 400 jackup rigs, the Atwood Mako, the Atwood Manta and the Atwood Orca and a dynamically positioned semisubmersible, the Atwood Condor. Drillships formerly in the Atwood fleet that have since been sold or scrapped include the Seahawk, the Vicksburg and the Southern Cross.

The Atwood Advantage is stationed in the gulf of Mexico through 2017 drilling in water up to 12,000'. The Achiever, rated at an identical depth, is stationed in Morocco through 2017. The Atwood Condor, rated for a water depth of up to 10,000', is also stationed in the Gulf of Mexico. Atwood has 3 rigs stationed in Australia; deep water submersibles Falcon and Eagle, and ultra deep water Osprey. The Atwood Mako jackup rig is stationed in Malaysia, while the Manta and Orca are stationed in Thailand. The Atwood beacon is currently stationed in Italy, while the Aurora is stationed in Cameroon.
