The company develops webmail, mail-server and groupware solutions built for Linux and other Unix operating systems, and includes the source code under a commercial license.

History

Originally developed in 1998, the software is now more commonly referred to as atmail instead of the original name '@Mail'. Initially developed in Perl, atmail is now offered in PHP using the Zend Framework for ease-of-customization by a larger number of developers.

Main features

The software serves three main functions:

atmail email server - Leverages open source projects such as Dovecot, Exim and MySQL on the backend to provide a comprehensive mailserver solution with management via an easy to use 'Webadmin' control panel. Support for IMAP/POP3/SSL/SMTP/TLS

atmail webmail client - Built using PHP Zend, atmail provides a complete Web-based mail platform, intended to rival desktop clients. The user-interface is built with the jQuery toolkit.

atmail groupware - Provides a complete CalDAV web-based client, and CalDAV server based on the Apple Calendar server project. Support for shared calendars, delegation, Outlook sync, and all the features available in CalDAV 3.x.

atmail appliance - was atmail's Plug and Play solution for an enterprise email solution. atmail with an external server builder had created a custom specced server optimized for running the pre-installed atmail email server software. The servers came in a variety of sizes based on number of system users. The server hardware was branded with atmail's design and the delivery box included a printed setup guide, restore software on a bootable USB thumb drive and a T-Shirt. CentOS is used as the Operating System.

"ArchiveVault" - was built to help many large businesses adhere to increasing regulations for logging of all email communications. This capture and store system is built with search & filtering tools to make retrieval of email evidence easier when putting together a case.

atmail cloud - in 2012 atmail soft launched a Cloud computing based offering to compete against other cloud business offerings like Google Apps & Microsoft 360. Marketing is aimed at targeting small and medium businesses in the graphic design & web design segment looking to resell email, contacts & calendaring to their own customers. atmail cloud is built on atmail server with a control panel to allow an administrator access to set-up functions and usage and payment stats.
