Athmuqam or Athmakam (Urdu: آٹھمقام ) is a town about 73 kilometres from Muzaffarabad, in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. It is the headquarters of Neelum District. Its population is about 20,000.[1]
The town is accessible by Neelum road from Muzaffarabad.It is the District headquarter of Neelum. All the basic necessities of life are available there.There is a market,post office, and telephone exchanges are also present. A number of guest Houses for accommodating visitors & Tourists e.g,River Inn Guest House,PWD Guest House etc. NBP & HBL branches are also there while only HBL ATM is available in town & Banking hours are 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. In some areas of Town,SCOM cellular service is available. DHQ hospital Neelum has all the first aid facilities but don't expect something more than first aid Coz there is a a good building of hospital but not sufficent Medical Staff due to govt negligence. University of AJK Neelum campus is also located in the town having departments of Computer Science,Geology & English.There are two degree colleges 1 for Girls & 1 for Boys.Private colleges like Neelum Institute of Science & Humanities (NISH) & Schools like Owasia Educational Academy are providing quality education.
Office of the Deputy commsioner & Assistant Commisoner,Superintendent of Police etc are present.
