The Atheliaceae are a family of fungi in the monotypic order Atheliales. Both the order and the family were described by Walter Jülich in 1981.<ref name=Jülich1981">Jülich W. (1981). "Higher taxa of Basidiomycetes". Bibliotheca Mycologica 85: 343.</ref> According to a 2008 estimate, the family contains 22 genera and 106 species.[1]
