Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta

The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), formerly the "Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta" (APEGGA), is a professional association specific to the Canadian province of Alberta. The association, which acts as a regulatory agency, derives its authority from Alberta statute.[1] It was created in 1920.[2]

APEGA regulates the professions of engineering and geoscience in Alberta.[1]

Engineering and geoscience are regulated professions in Alberta, due to the huge impact that they have on the province, and the trust that society must place on the judgment of its professionals. Under the Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act, engineers and geocientists must be licensed to practice engineering or geoscience in Alberta.
