Student Life
As an international university in Thailand, Asian U provides exposure to a unique cultural and ethnic diversity with the potential to develop strong cross-cultural understanding among students. Students educated in such an environment develop a strong tolerance and understanding of other people and viewpoints, and are subject to a broad range of experiences.
Accommodation
The quality of life in the dormitory, overall, is good. Nestled in a tranquil environment, the accommodation area has WiFi coverage, a restaurant and a small ‘Family Mart’ type convenient store. Each double occupancy room has recently been refurbished and modeled on the international Ibis hotel philosophy of being ‘clean and efficient' with modern décor and stylish colours.
Student Governance & Student Union
Students have the right to participate in University governance through the Student Union. The student governance system provides an effective vehicle for students to represent their concerns, to allocate appropriate funding from Student Union annual activity fees for the various student activities, and to communicate and interact with other constituencies of Asian U.
The purpose of the Student Union is to serve the social, cultural, and physical needs of students and to further their interests both inside and outside Asian U. The Union is organised and administered by an Executive Committee of students. All registered students automatically become members of the Union throughout the period of their studies. The Union is reserved for the student body alone. Provided that it is managed within the terms of its constitution and guidelines, it will enjoy total autonomy without any intervention from the university management.
Clubs and Associations
There are numerous organisations which reflect the social, cultural and sporting interests of students. New students in particular will benefit from joining these associations. They enable students to broaden their non-academic interests and provide an opportunity to meet others and become an active part of the Asian U community.
Sports Centre
Asian U takes pride in its Sports Centre, which is capable of serving various indoor sports activities including aerobics, badminton, basketball, squash, table tennis, volleyball, weight training and circuit training. Special instruction in boxing and other martial arts are also available. The Sports Centre is one of the three prominent buildings on campus. It features a special architectural design to promote air circulation. With over 5,000 square metres of recreational opportunities, students may use one basketball court, one volleyball court, and four badminton courts interchangeably in the central common arena. Equipment for Uni-hoc (indoor hockey) and other sports is available. The centre also has three table-tennis tables in the North wing and four air-conditioned squash courts in the West wing. On the second floor of the centre, Asian U students may enjoy aerobics and weight training with an extraordinary view of the seaside resort of Jomtien and Pattaya Bay. The Sports Centre is also used for extra-curricular activities, as well as student clubs and societies.
