Ashwin Dani

Ashwin Dani is an Indian entrepreneur, promoter and non executive vice chairman of Asian Paints, India’s largest paint company. Ashwin is among the top 50 richest Indians and Forbes global billionaires.[1]

Early life

Ashwin was born in 1944 in Mumbai. His father Suryakant Dani was one of the co founder of Asian paints. Ashwin completed his Bachelors of Science (Hons) from Institute of Science, University of Mumbai, Bachelors of Science and Technology in pigment, paints and varnished from UDCT University of Mumbai, Master’s in polymer science from University of Akron , Ohio USA and Diploma in colour science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Troy, New York USA. Ashwin first job was in 1967 as a Development chemist with Inmont Corp (current BASF) Detroit, USA.[2]

Ashwin joined his family business Asian Paints in 1968 as Senior Executive.

Ashwin is an adviser to the Central Board of Trustees—Employees Provident Fund Government of India. He was President of the Indian Paint Association (IPA), President of the Board of Governors of the UDCT Alumni Association, Mumbai. Ashwin is a member of the Board of Management of Institute of Chemical Technology, Non Executive Independent Director of Sun Pharmaceutical, Independent Director of Wockhardt Hospitals , Director Rangudyan Insurance Broking Services, Director Geetanjali Trading & Investments and Director at Hitech Plast.[4]

Family

Ashwin is married and have three children. His son Jalaj Dani looks after international markets and other son Malav Dani is on board as non-executive director of Asian Paints.[5]
