Ashley Jackson is a professor of imperial and military history in the Defence Studies Department at King's College London and a visiting fellow at Kellogg College, University of Oxford. Jackson has a regional interest in sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean regions.
Jackson gained his master's degree at New College, Oxford in 1993 and his doctorate in 1996. He was a research fellow at Mansfield College, Oxford and a lecturer in imperial and Commonwealth history at Oxford Brookes University; in 2004 he joined King's College's Defence Studies Department.
