Ashley Bouder is an American ballet dancer who is currently a principal dancer at the New York City Ballet.

Early life

Ashley Bouder was born in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She began ballet training when she was six at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet with Marcia Dale Weary. In 1999, after attending the Summer Program at the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, Ashley Bouder was invited by SAB to continue her training during the Winter Session.[1]

Career

Ms. Bouder was named an apprentice with New York City Ballet in June 2000. She became a member of the corps de ballet in October 2000. She was promoted to the rank of Soloist in February 2004. In January 2005, Ashley Bouder was promoted to Principal dancer.

Style

Ashley Bouder is a fearsome technician, who is known for her athleticism. Due to her enthusiastic dance and her happiness, Bouder is one of NYCB's most popular dancers.

Award

She was a recipient of theMae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Promise in 2000 and of The Janice Levin Dancer Award in 2003.[2]
