Syed Ashar Ahmed Zaidi (Urdu: سید اشعر احمد زیدی) (born 13 July 1981 in Karachi, Pakistan) is a Pakistani cricketer currently playing for Sussex County Cricket Club in England. Ashar has previously played for Islamabad Cricket Association and has represented Pakistan A cricket team as a left-handed batsman. He took a professional contract for the 2009 season as groundsman with UK club Wood Lane CC who play in the North Staffs & South Cheshire League.
Ashar joined Sussex on non-contract terms towards the end of the 2013 season making two first-class appearances. Following the season Sussex confirmed Ashar had signed a two-year contract with the club.[1]
