Artur Bahr (14 November 1920 – 27 November 1944[Note 1]) was a highly decorated Hauptmann in the Wehrmacht (the German Armed Forces) during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Artur Bahr was badly wounded on 25 November 1944 and died 27 November 1944 in a field hospital in Eglieni, Latvia. He was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross on 3 December 1944 and was later promoted to Hauptmann.
