Arts & Crafts México
Arts & Crafts Mexico is an independent record label set in Mexico City. It is an outer branch of the Toronto-based company Arts & Crafts Productions [1] It started business in 2008, when Jeffrey Remedios and Kevin Drew decided to open an office abroad, in order to promote the independent music scene in Mexico.[2] They produce records, as well as license material from other international labels.[3]
History
In the midst of 2002, Jeffery Remedios and Kevin Drew decided to join forces and open a record label that would eventually transform the music business industry: Arts & Crafts.[4]
This new record label sought to innovate and renew the relationship large record companies kept with their artists. Their goal was to create some sort of family relationship inside the label.[5]
Arts & Crafts grew and gained so much respect over the years, that in 2008 they decided to broaden their horizon and open a satellite office in Mexico City. Arts & Crafts México focuses on supporting national talent as well as the local independent music community. They concentrate on creating an environment that is not only composed of high quality bands, but that is also familiar and welcoming. During the past three years, they have released records of prominent local bands such as Los Odio!, Chikita Violenta, Bam Bam, Movus, Antoine Reverb and Torreblanca.[6]
