Arthur Gordon Tovey

Gordon Tovey (19011974) was a notable New Zealand artist, art teacher and administrator, educationalist, and writer.

He was born in Wellington, New Zealand in 1901, lived variously in Napier, Palmerston North, London, and (from 1932) Dunedin, then back to Wellington in 1946, where he died in 1974. His London-born wife, Heather Campbell, had been secretly fostered, with no birth registration, and found only late in life that her parents were Grace Blundell Maple (sole heir to the Maple Furnishing millions) and Elidor Campbell, a son of the third Earl of Cawdor.[1][2]
