Alex Arnold León (born September 6, 1988) is a Mexican professional baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Career
León made his professional baseball debut with the Saraperos de Saltillo of the Mexican League in 2006. The Oakland Athletics purchased León's contract from Saltillo in November 2007. He pitched for the Stockton Ports of the Class A-Advanced California League in 2008. He missed most of the 2010 and 2011 seasons while recovering from Tommy John surgery.[1]
León played for the Mexican national baseball team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic. In a first round game against the Canadian national baseball team, León initiated a brawl when he hit Rene Tosoni with a pitch following a bunt single by Chris Robinson.[1][2]
The Athletics promoted León to the major leagues in May 2014.[1] They optioned him back to the minor leagues without having made a major league debut.
Personal life
León and his wife, Cynthia, have a son.[1]
