Army Public School, Narangi is an Indian Army Public School located in the neighbourhood of Narengi in Guwahati, Assam, India.[1][2][3][4]

History

On 15 January (Army Day), the Chief of the Army Staff made an announcement regarding the establishment of Army Schools throughout the country to impart adequate educational facilities up-to 10+2 level for the children of Army personnel.

Army Public School, Narangi was initially established as a Unit School in 1970 with 10 children. In the beginning it catered for Nursery students only and was known as Rhino School. Subsequently, in 1980, classes up to IV were added and the name of the school was changed to Hill View Public School. Between 1981 and 1983, three more classes were added (up-to class VIII).

In 1982, the school came under the Army Welfare Education Society as one of the Army Schools on 28 June 1982. It commenced its first academic session as one of the Army School on 28 June 1982. In March 1992, the first batch of students both in the science and arts stream appeared for the Senior School Certificate Examination. In March 1997, the first batch of commerce stream appeared for the All India Senior School Certificate Examination.

Academics

The School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. CBSE Affiliation No. is 0230003. The syllabus and the course are as prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education for the 10+2 system. The school curriculum up to class VIII covers subjects English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, General Knowledge, Art Education and Computer Education.

At the 10+2 level the following subjects are offered: English Core, Hindi Core, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology Bio-technology, Computer Science, informatics Practices, History, Geography, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Physical Education, Accountancy, Business Studies.

School publications

School Magazine TRIVENI and newsletter Pulse are published annually and bi-annually respectively. The compilation of TRIVENI is done by the students editorial board under the guidance of the Chief Editor.
