Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M. is a futuristic first-person shooter game for the Nintendo 64, PlayStation and Game Boy Color featuring a top-down perspective released in 1999. It is based on the Armorines comic book from Valiant Comics, which was bought by Acclaim Entertainment.

A proposed sequel to Armorines was announced before the original reached retail stores, but was cancelled when the first game sold below expectations.

Plot

A group of marines fitted with advanced futuristic suits of tough armour protect Earth from an invasion of extraterrestrial, spider-like beings.

Reception

Gamerankings rated the game 61% based on thirteen reviews for the N64 version,[1] 30% based on eight reviews for the PlayStation version,[2] 57% based on four reviews for the Game Boy version.[3]

Gameplay

There are two characters to choose from: Tony Lewis and Myra Lane. Each has a different starting weapon. Tony uses a slower, but stronger gun than Myra; who uses a faster machine gun type weapon, which causes less damage. Additional weapons can be picked up later throughout the game. Armorines: Project S.W.A.R.M. can be played alone or in cooperation with other players. The multiplayer version can accommodate up to 4 players. It is compatible with Nintendo's Rumble Pak.

Character sheets

Tony Lewis

Private Tony Lewis is your typical no-nonsense, ever-dependable hero. A charismatic leader and seasoned veteran of numerous campaigns, Lewis is tough, cool and level-headed. Rising through the ranks of the Marine Corps to the rank of Master Gunnery Sgt., Lewis was the first recruit chosen for the Elite Armorine Corps.

Due to his tendency to use unorthodox methods in order to succeed, Lewis was summarily dismissed from the Marine Corps. Details surrounding his dismissal are still classified. However, with the uncovering of the alien invasion, General Kendall is convinced that Lewis is the only man who can tackle the overwhelming odds of Project S.W.A.R.M. and WIN.

Starting out as a private in the world's most secret fighting force, Lewis must once again show his mettle to rise through the ranks.

Weapons of choice:

Myra Lane

Myra is the consummate marine. Her perseverance, determination and tactical abilities allowed her to quickly rise to the rank of Marine Corps Lieutenant, and to get noticed by General Kendall of the Armorines Project.

Unlike the gung-ho Lewis, Pvt. Lane is a disciplined tactician who will properly assess a situation before charging in. To her, the smart way is the right way.

Myra sees this assignment as her ultimate challenge and the chance to earn her place in world history. Along with Tony Lewis, Myra must begin again as a Pvt. in the Elite Armorines Force. She'll have to rely once again on her savvy battle skills and fighting strategies to catapult her through the Armorine ranks.
