Armored Warfare is an upcoming free-to-play multiplayer online shooter video game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Mail.Ru. The game will be operated by My.com in North American and Europe, and by Mail.Ru in Russia and Central Asia. The game features tanks from the 1950s through modern day and includes fully destructible environments for both player vs. environment and player vs. player gameplay.[1] Armored Warfare is built on the free-to-play business model with in-game micro transactions available for certain features and upgrades.[2] Armored Warfare will launch into closed beta in Q2 2015 for PC.[3]
Gameplay
Armored Warfare is set in a modern virtual world where the player takes on the role of a private military contractor. The game offers players the opportunity to participate in battles across co-op player vs. environment campaigns and team-based player vs. player matches in a variety of armored vehicles, main battle tanks, and long-range artillery.[4] Players can customize their vehicles with upgrades and modifications that change the way the vehicles behave in the game.
Vehicle Classes
Players can obtain vehicles in five vehicle classes: Main battle tanks (MBTs), AFVs (lightly armored reconnaissance vehicles), light tanks, tank destroyers, or artillery. MBTs are the traditional heavy armor, built for maximum firepower and absorbing damage. AFVs are highly mobile and well-suited for spotting enemies and remaining concealed. Artillery utilizes indirect fire to deal damage to enemy vehicles at long range. Tank Destroyers mount the same high-damage guns as the main battle tanks, but on a much lighter and more mobile platform. Light tanks are lightly armored and more mobile versions of the main battle tanks, effective at flanking and making rapid maneuvers, but far less capable of absorbing or deflecting damage. [5]
Customization
Armored Warfare offers players a wide array of vehicle and base customization options.[6] It will be possible to unlock additional vehicles and equipment as players progress through the game as well as visually customize their vehicles.[7]
