History
Great Meadows was first bought in 1871, primarily used as a water storage area to prevent flooding to nearby areas.[1] It has greatly become a popular recreational spot since the opening of the Minuteman Bikeway in 1992.[2] On April 23, 2008, a fire struck AGM, damaging nine acres of upland forest near the nursing home.[3] Twelve months later on April 17, 2009, AGM is hit with another fire, injuring two firefighters and coming as close as three feet within homes.[4]
