Aristică Cioabă (born 4 August 1971) is a Romanian football manager and former footballer, who previously coached Al-Shabab SC in the Kuwaiti Premier League.[1]
Playing career
Cioabă began his football career with local side Jiul Petroșani, playing seven seasons with them in both Romanian's Divizia A and the second tier Divizia B. He made his debut for the Jiul side in the 1989–90 season under head coach Gogu Tonca.[2] In the 1995–96 season, he moved to Farul Constanța playing in the 1995 UEFA Intertoto Cup but were eliminated by Heerenveen in the round of 16.[3]
The following season, he returned to Jiul Petroșani, where he helped his side to get promoted to the Divizia A by the end of the season.[4] In Romania, he also played for lower league sides Rocar Bucureşti, Universitatea Cluj (on loan)[5] Foresta Fălticeni and FC Onesti before moving abroad in China playing for Yunnan Hongta and Wuhan Hongjinlong.[6] He also had spells in Saudi Arabia with Al-Shoalah before finishing his career in Spain with Esporles.[7]

Romania
In 2007, he was appointed as the manager of the Romanian Liga III side FC Balş 2007 where he worked till 2009.[8]
Kuwait
His next move out of Romania was to Kuwait in 2009 where he again worked as assistant manager to Costică Ștefănescu and Alexandru Moldovan for Al-Tadamun SC of Kuwaiti Premier League.

Soon after the second round of the 2013–14 Oman Professional League, Saham SC management decided to part company with the Romanian coach.[10] While he was at the Saham-based club, news speculated that he would take charge of Ghana's Medeama SC. Soon after he signed a two and half-year contract with the Ghanaian side worth $110 000.[11][12] However, this agreement failed to materialize and as a result he signed for another Omani club Al-Oruba.[13][14]
