Arik Shivek (Hebrew: אריק שיבק‎) is the Israeli coach of Belgian club Dexia Mons-Hainaut.[1][2] Shivek replaced coach Zvi Sherf as the coach of the Israeli national basketball team and worked as the coach of the national side from 2009 to 2014.[1][3]

Coaching career

Shivek started coaching in 1983 with Maccabi Netanya and later moved to clubs such as Maccabi Ra’anana, Maccabi Ramat Gan, and Hapoel Tel Aviv.[1][4] Beginning in 2003 he coached the Amsterdam Ricoh Astronauts in the Netherlands, leading it to championships in 2008 and 2009,[5] and the Antwerp Giants in Belgium.[1][6]

He was the Coach of the Year in the Dutch Premier League in 2005 and 2009, and was named Eurobasket Coach of the Year in 2008.[1][4]

In December 2009, he was appointed the head basketball coach of the Israeli national basketball team.[3] The Israel Basketball Association permitted him to take the job on a part-time basis.[3] In June 2011, he re-signed as coach of Dexia Mons-Haiaut for a third straight year, subsequent to declining job offers from teams in France and Germany.[7][8]
