Areekode (Areacode) is a village located on the banks of Chaliyar River in Eranad Taluk of Malappuram district. Its situated 25km far from Malappuram. Near places are Mukkam, Thiruvambady, Nilambur, Manjeri. Nilambur-Koyilandy SH pass through here. It is believed that the name 'Areekode' was derived from 'Aruvikkode', which in Malayalam means 'river side'. Areekode is famous for sevens football. Also known as 'Makkah of Football'.
